I need to replace my burner

    I have one just like that. Good for the price, but the bayoo ones seem a lot nicer and dont sound loke a jet is taking off from your backyard while you're brewing.

    This thing I've had for at least 10 years. It's worked great until the last couple of brew days. The bolt to remove on the bottom is rusted and rounded out so I can't dismantle to clean it out. It still gets the boil going but puts off a lot of soot.

    Maybe turning it upside down at giving it a few good raps with a hammer would clear it out?

    That's the exact problem. I've worked on it a few times. Just can't seem to get it cleared back out.

    First, that burner holds heat for a long time. Found a screw driver that fit. Cleaned it out beat on it and I think it's working better than it was.

    I looked at the bayou burners. The cast iron one is like $17 and the banjo burner is like $48. Is a banjo burner that much better?

    The banjo is the one that doesnt sound like you have a rocket engine under your kettle.

    If you dont care about the sound then the cast iron one will last you another decade, just like the rusty hunk you have now.

    Id buy the banjo if I were getting something new, just to make the brew day a little more peaceful.

    Cut the bolt. Use sandpaper, naval jelly, electrolysis, etc. to get the rust off. Install new bolt. Or get a banjo.

    I have 2 just like you have because they were on sale and I had a coupon. I've used the banjo burners at our yearly gigantic camping trip. They are nice.

    I saw one of those bayou burners heat up a barrel of water in about 20 minutes to scald a whole hog carcass in so yes those do a fine job and hold quite a bit of weight. I have ine on my wish list for when my King cooker dirs but its been going for years.
