    14 sheets 7/16th 4x8 plywood and a box of rock screws

    Weird dimension.
    R30 is made for a 10" nominal (9.5" actual) ceiling cavity. If you stuff R-30 into a 3" cavity you'll lose most of its insulating value. It will be less efficient than using R13, which is made for a 2x4 (nominal) wall cavity.

    I love the cedar furniture, but you're distracting us from your insulation issue. Stay on topic man! I've made some cedar furniture as well, no varithane, just thompsons. It turns gray. I think I'll try something else in the future to protect the color. This needs a new thread. I'll post photos when I get some.
