Anybody tried these apple ales that around in the stores now? What do you think they are? I haven't tried one, but i guess they are apple flavored blonde ale? like a strawberry blonde, but with apple? I plan on trying one at some point in the near future.

Basically this. I've had a taste of the Redd's Apple Ale. It says "Brewed like an ale" on the label, but I'm not sure what they're marketing for here... A bit too sweet in my opinion. Not crazy sweet, just a bit over the top. And I thought it tasted thin as well.
So yeah, I guess a blond ale with some apple flavoring and back sweetened to get the chicks to like it is probably the process.

I saw these the other day and the packaging seemed eerily like red dog beer, this immediately brought on a flashback to all the wretching that came after several pitchers of red dog and about a full bottle of jäger, oddly, I still enjoy jäger after a big meal, the red dog, not so much.

So no redd for me, it might be fantastic, but the packaging scares me.

After a long hiatus from the forum, I hate to jump in here and actually post about the original post but,... I tried the Red Apple Ale in Florida. I asked a bartender about it and he gave my wife and I a sample pour. It is awful. It's not beer, or at least the taste does not resemble beer. It tastes a lot like a kids apple drink, but slightly spiked. I'd be surprised if it actually has apple in it aside from apple extract flavor. Don't waste your money trying it, more money has gone into marketing than brewing.

Don't waste your money trying it, more money has gone into marketing than brewing.

    kind of what I figured....

my curiosity has been quenched by Ben. I no longer have any need to spend money on this quest.

If you send me a bottle, I'll drink it. But i'm not going to pay for it. ;)
