Not sure if this is a strong ale or not? I guess technically its a barley wine.

    First. Wow freaking great.

    12.2% abv
Color: nice deep amber with perfect lacing that is sticking to the glass.

The nose is floral with a hint of the whiskey from the barrel

At 12% you think the alcohol is going to smack you in the face but it doesn't. I think the whiskey barrel age helps smooth it out.

The hops are very pronounced forward but balanced in the way a really good iipa would be done. Mice malt backbone that supports this beer in the background.

If you can find this give it a try. One of the beer bars here local got the only keg in the Richmond metropolitan area and maybe the whole state.
