Chasin' Freshies is a Fresh Hop IPA from Deschutes Brewery, Bend OR. ABV 7.4%

First impression is a crystal clear light pale color, minimal head formation with a careful pour.

Unexpectedly, this IPA has very little if any hop nose. A hint of acetyl aldehide? Is present in the aroma.
Flavor is again surprisingly lacking in hoppy punch.the acetyl aldehyde was once again present. Not off putting, but definitely more pronounced than any hoppyness. The hop bitterness puts this beer in the IPA category, but doesn't seem to keep up with the estery flavors or the 7.4% ABV

The finish is a light lingering bitterness, no discernable sweetness.

Overall impression is a drinkable beer, but not one that I will be craving.

I will make the disclaimer that this beer had a best by date of 12/27/12, and therefore, I did drink it at the end of its recommended shelf life.

Fresh hop beers seem to me to be ticking bombs, fantastic one day, horrible the next, could be you missed it's sweet spot, that or it never had one.... Deschutes is really hit or miss for me like that
