Is this an edible mushroom? It looks and smells tasty to me...
I just don't want to trip out or die.

mushrooms are incredibly regional, so i don't know.
don't eat it.
always be sure of a species before you ingest from at least two sources.
that being said, it doesn't look like the ones that will kill you (around here). might regret eating it though. lots of shrooms will just make your stomach hurt and give you crazy poops. sort of looks like a spicy lepiota, which is incredibly peppery, because its toxic. you can nibble small amounts though and it won't hurt you.
again though, don't eat that. -

i will tell you this much, shrooms that look like that generally do not taste good. we have several out here that look like that and they are not deadly, but they are not tasty either.

the biggest thing, seriously, if you want to try an unknown mushroom.......is to make damn sure you don't have any alcohol in your system when you do it.
some shrooms react with alcohol and are only toxic (or only deadly) in the presence of it. its seriously fugged up, but true -
