Mr. Malty says I only need a one liter starter.... That can't be right? Maybe what they are calling a stirplate is different than what I'm using?

1 liter sounds about right for this beer.

This is my first 10 gallon batch, so a liter seems low. But I 'spose it is a pretty low OG.

I didn;t know it was a 10 gal batch. Yeah that seems low. Did you change batch size to 10?

I selected 10 and stir plate and also got 1 liter. That may be right.

That brings up a question... 10 gallons on a stir plate, is it saying I should pitch 2 vials into a one liter starter? I never understood the vials thing there.

Either way, the vial was a bit old so I did 750ml and I'm going to chill decant and do it again. So I should end up with over a liter starter's worth of yeast.

    Heating the water now..
I'm tweaking the recipe a bit. I'm going to add enough DME to get the OG up just a bit. I'd like it to finish around 4.5%-5.0% abv.
I'll post the final recipe once I'm done jacking around with it.

Is that too much DME? This is all the hops I have and BrewTarget is telling me this will be extra malty. It's usually wrong, but now I'm not sure about the extra pound of DME...

OG came out at 1.045 on 11 gallons. Apparently I don't boil off as much as I thought...

I blueberried half of this. Heated 1.75 lbs of blueberries to 180* then put in a carboy and racked the beer on top of it. Didn't leave enough headspace and the airlock blew off. Next time I puree instead of just mash up and I put it in the primary and not a damn carboy. What was I thinking? Beats me....

Not sure yet haven't checked. It was still going a bit when I added the blueberries to half. I'll keg both halves this weekend and take a sample then.

Tapped the blueberry keg tonight. Good beer. No blueberry flavor or aroma as I expected. Next time a lot more blueberries and I'm going to blend them up a bit more. And not cook them, or at least not much.

Trial and error. I didn't really expect 2 pounds of frozen blueberries in 5 gallons of beer would really come through. But I was hopin'.

Yikes. Not sure I want to spend that much cheddar. Maybe, IDK.
