Thinking about making or buying an aeration system for wort. General thoughts? I was looking at something like this:

cool. i'd use it. probably wouldn't spend $35 on one, but i'm sure you could rig something up for cheaper. The pinnacle of lame and awesome in one singular moment. -Lake -
Yeah, that's a $10 fish tank pump and some hose. Those pumps have filters built into them, but not very good ones. You'd be better off buying the fish tank one and duct taping some coffee filters over the air intake. You'd save money, and it would work better.

I was sort of thinking the same, if you buy the air stone and inline filter, it is pretty much a fish aerator. I would highly recommend the diver or skeleton drinking the whiskey.

I use an airstone attached to an O2 tank when i feel like aerating. I usually skip it though. Plan on replacing the airstone frequently.... lots of surface area for nasties. The only thing between me and a train wreck is blind luck..... - Kenny
