Hop Balance Adjustment Tool
-
Ok. So you have a great recipe and you want to be able to make it consistently, but every time you buy another package of Cascade it's got a different measured AA content... what to do????
Here's a nifty tool that will help maintain your hop profile and overall bitterness quite reliably and without much trouble.
just enter your batch specs on the left and the hop schedule from the original recipe, then key in the AA numbers for the new ingredients and viola, you will see the appropriate amount of hops to use for each addition while maintaining the profile.
I've included two balancing methods. Although I believe that the Weight Ratio Balance will give you more true to life results, a more traditional IBU contribution based approach is also available. The program will default to Weight Balance, since I believe the IBU based approach messes with the flavor and aroma profiles.
Enjoy.

It'll warn you that it's not been signed and whatnot. You can just bypass the warnings. It's safe code, I wrote it. I can't afford to get a code signing certificate. The only thing between me and a train wreck is blind luck..... - Kenny

@Lakewood Works better, tabbing between fields doesn't work, it highlights then I have to click it again to enter a value.
I like it though, good idea.
btw, @vinking73? who's that? -

He's my imaginary friend from typoville.
the tabbing thing is a little funny due to the automatic postback. I need to work out some UI tricks to make it a little more seamless. The only thing between me and a train wreck is blind luck..... - Kenny -

I used it for a beer for the first time tonight. Worked for me (and tastes about right) though the fields reset themselves a few times for no reason...

Cool. Glad you got a chance to give it a try. The fields resetting is a result of the automatic refreshing. I need to work on the smoothness there. It works great in the windows desktop version of the tool, but takes a little getting used to on the web.The only thing between me and a train wreck is blind luck..... - Kenny
