Teach me to hops?

I did an extract and steeping grains IPA once, with Amarillo for bittering, and glacier for the late additions. Turned out pretty dang good. I will consult my notebook, and pass on what I did.Never attribute to malice, that which can adequately be explained by stupidity.

OK ... checked my notes
6 pounds LME
2 pounds DME (added late)
1.25 pounds crystal 20 (steeped)
1 oz Amarillo at 60 min.
2 oz Glacier at 30 min.
2 oz Glacier at 5 min.
0.25 oz Amarillo at flame out

Oh, yeah .... similar to fuggles, but brighter, and not as earthy. AA is also higher ...
It's a good flavor and aroma hop, if you don't want "cat piss and pine tar", but want a brighter hop profileNever attribute to malice, that which can adequately be explained by stupidity. -

mmm, that sounds good. if the ipa works out, might just have to try and brew one of them cascadian dark ales with it. seems like that would be a nice match-up.The pinnacle of lame and awesome in one singular moment. -Lake -
Here's what you do. Add 1/2 oz to the brew kettle and lager said brew until any and all identifying characteristics of the variety are mellowed out. Drink and enjoy malty goodness. There's no starting point. It's just a massive sea of shit to wade through until you find the occasional corn kernel. -DrCurly

But seriously, use big boy hops if you brew a cascadian dark ale. Otherwise you're just making a porter. -
