Clean out the freezer Double IPA

    So I needed to create a test topic... Figured I might as well post the recipe I'm using to clean out the older hops from my freezer. I did an inventory of my hops last week and I had over 23lbs of hops in my freezer... Some of unknown origin and/or age.... So all hops will have to pass the sniff test before going into the kettle...so there may be some alterations to the recipe on the fly on brew day...

    30 lbs Pale Ale Malt 2-Row (Briess) (3.5 SRM) Grain 1 77.9 %
    3 lbs Munich 10L (Briess) (10.0 SRM) Grain 2 7.8 %
    2 lbs Carapils (Briess) (1.5 SRM) Grain 3 5.2 %
    1 lbs 8.0 oz Caramel Malt - 40L (Briess) (40.0 SRM) Grain 4 3.9 %
    2.000 oz Centennial [8.10 %] - First Wort 60.0 mi Hop 5 31.3 IBUs
    2 lbs Corn Sugar (Dextrose) (0.0 SRM) Sugar 6 5.2 %

    That would be a durned potent beer, my wee heavy clocked in at 12% and that was with 28 lb of grain if I recall

    haha no 12 gallons... but it may or may not get some more dry hops added.... I decided to give my buddy who doesn't brew too often 6 gallons of the batch.

    I made him buy me my yeast and we're using his propane... But yeah he's making out for sure... though... Some of the ingredients may be slightly sub par lol.

    you get what you pay for i guess.. but really grab bag beers often turn out fantastic. just nothing you can repeat.
