How to clean and sanitize a "rig"?

    Those of you with legit rigs, how do you clean and sanitize the plumbing? All the hard plumbed lines for a RIMS system or the plate chiller or counterflow chiller? The stuff you can't unthread/unsolder or otherwise dismantle and clean after every brew? I can see inside my kettle, what about what I can't see?

    I just recirculate hot pbw through the system for something lile 30 minutes then flush with boiling water twice.

    So every time you brew you heat three more batches of water to boiling after you brewed? One to recirc with pbw and two to flush?

    My plumbing is designed to be self draining for areas to be drained.

    The cleaning volumes are much less than a full batch. I usually just fill the mlt once and use 1/3 of that volume for each step.

    You are correct. But I'm lazy. And I know it. Am I going to drag the air compressor out of the trailer and over to the rig to blow it out? Not likely.

    My air compressor is 100 yards away. And again, I'm lazy and I know it. The key is to design out possible shortcomings like this. All that said, I'll probably still use air.

    mine are all high heat hoses w/quick disconnects so i don't have that problem

    I went with 45 deg flare fittings on soft copper, and rigid copper. Its what i had experience with.

    just fill it with PBW (or something like that) after you brew and walk away. Then just deal with it the next time you brew.
    I don't have a rig.... because it rusted away.
