This is one of the "High end" type system configurations.

In the next few posts i'll describe the basic configuration of a RIMS brewery and how you can construct one using fairly inexpensive components.

    First, the basics:

    What is it?
A Recirculating Infusion Mash System (RIMS) brewery utilizes a recirculating pump to draw wort from you mash, convey it through pipes or tubing to a heat source, then return it to the mash-tun at a prescribed temperature.

The benefits of the RIMS system include:
    • Very stable mash temperatures
    • Consistent extraction throughout the mash
    • Consistent temperature throughout the mash volume
    • pre-cleared wort, no vorlaufing required
    • The general satisfaction of having a complex brewing system
