Well I had planned on about an 8 hour boil. Took a bit longer to boil down 24 gallons to 6 than I originally planned.

Oh I forgot... While that was boiling I brewed the start of a Lychee 'lambic' like beer...

First attempt at session Dry stout (3.6%). Had the numbers all worked out for 72% efficiency, and then ended up getting 92% eff. Never been so mad to see such good extraction. Anyways, looking at 4.5-4.6%ABV.

Basically from what I know. Also more hops, there should be a noticeable hop presence. Most of the hops are at flame out. I'm using Jamil Z. recipe from Brewing Classic Styles.

The difference between an American Barleywine and an English barleywine is not just the hop types (though that is certainly a typical difference) The main difference is in the balance. While both can have equally powerful malt character the American should have a balance much greater towards the hops (moderate to high hop flavor) whereas the English should range from just enough to balance the sweetness to firm. Caramel flavors in an American Barleywine should be restrained whereas an English Barleywine may have a much more caramelly character.
