    Here is recipe number 1. I hope to be able to brew it this weekend. I also hope the LHBS will sell me 9 oz of hops

    I've wondered this for a bit, what makes an IPA Belgian? Is it the yeast alone? Anything else?

    Typical Belgian esters and phenolics .....

    i need to try a few commercial examples of this before i would commit to a batch. For me, the thing i really enjoy in an IPA is a very clean palate behind a big hoppy punch to the throat. so the idea of messing that all up with an estery begian yeast just seems wrong.

    Update: Kegged this beer last week and I have to say its pretty good. Malty but with a strong hop presence that makes it fairly well balanced. I'll be curious to see how well it improves over the next week or two.

    I haven't had belgo. But it's kind of close to flying dog raging bitch.
