    Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: harvested from Bells Oberon, or use Wyeast 1272 American ale II
    Yeast Starter: naturally!
    Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5
    Original Gravity: 1.067
    Final Gravity: 1.010
    IBU: 64.1
    Boiling Time 60 Minutes
    Color: 5.9 SRM
Primary Fermentation: at least 3 weeks at 62-65 F

    10 lbs pale malt(2 row)
    2 lbs. Vienna
    .5 lb. CaraPils
    .5 lb. Crystal 20

    Hop schedule:

    All centennial hops used...

    .5 oz @ 60 min
    1.5 oz @ 20 min
    1 oz @ 15 min
    1 oz @ 5 min
    1 oz @ 1 min
    1 oz DH

    Mash 150 degrees

It's is as close to the original as I have ever had, the later hop additions simulate the burst hopping technique used by Bells.
A very nicely balanced beer, a classic example of an American IPA.

I love this beer. Surprisingly simple.

Really though. I'm surprised at the simplicity of this recipe. Simple grain bill and one hop.

More often than not, I find the best beers often are the simpler recipes, strange but often just how it turns out

I suppose this makes them much more repeatable also.

I've got a half pound of Centennial leaf hops. Is this recipe built for leaf or pellets? And if not leaf how do I convert? I think this is on deck for the number two slot for the IPA.

Weird. I doubled everything and Hopville gives me 47 IBUs...

Nice catch. The Centennial I have is 11.2% AA, Hopville defaults to 5%AA...

What AA% is this recipe based on scoob?

My gravity is 1.066, but that is with 6lbs of late boil DME.

I believe mine was 10.9%, I will need to rustle through the brew sheets that I have been meaning to put into an organized notebook, or add my notes to the files on the computer...
