new dry yeasts?

    I'm shopping around for some dry yeasts to stock up on and I've come across a few that I'm not familiar with. Anyone have any experience with these?

    Safbrew S-33: I don't think this is a new product, but I've never used it. It says it's good for trappist type beers because it has a tolerance up to 11.5%

    BRY-97 (from the makers of notty) new strain for clean, american styles.

    Breferm blanche: wit yeast. it would be nice to have a dry alternative to the liquid strains.

    So, has anyone used any of these, or do I have to by the guinea pig?

    Looks like you're the Guinea pig .... came close to using the 33 once .... but kept with the 57 for my Belgian like brews

    Try them and see, I have notty on hand, s05 as well, I have the munich dry on hand as well, not big on it though, I mostly just build starters from saved yeast anymore, if it gets really old, a couple steps up on the stir plate and I'm rockin, but still it's good to have dry on hand for backup or a stalled ferment

    and to add to the pile here's a dry saison yeast. this one is definitely going to get a test run when the weather warms up a bit.

    OK, thread update,

    I tried the bry-97 in a pale ale, and no me likey! it attenuated more than i had expected and it's a little to neutral for an ale yeast. would do well with the hop bomb carbonated water that fry and his ilk tend to brew, but it's not for us malt men.

    I have the newcastle strain from mangrove jack's fermenting a nut brown right now, so i'll update again when that's on tap.

    still haven't. i might just try a quick extract saison to test it out. and find that reptile heater so i can get it warm enough.
