Thanks. A brewing friend made the decanter that was filled with beer. It's heavy as hell, but looks nice and is very functional.

Bottles are good for big beers that get drank slowly. I don't want one beer tying up a tap for a year.

anything above 7% is a regular beer, below that is a light beer. just like i am 6'4", so that is normal, anyone below that is short.

    its all perspective

and yeah, you need more taps for sure

    Golden Cream Ale
    6-A Cream Ale
    Author: Chris

    Size: 6.5 gal
    Efficiency: 81.0%
    Attenuation: 77.0%
Calories: 176.66 kcal per 12.0 fl oz

    Original Gravity: 1.053 (1.042 - 1.055)
    Terminal Gravity: 1.012 (1.006 - 1.012)
    Color: 8.67 (3.0 - 5.0)
    Alcohol: 5.38% (4.2% - 5.6%)
    Bitterness: 21.2 (15.0 - 20.0)

    Ingredients:
    5.0 lb American 2-row
    2.0 lb Vienna Malt
    4.0 lb Crystal Malt 10°L
    0.5 lb Corn Flaked (Maize)
    1.0 lb Honey
    1.0 oz Cascade (5.5%) - added during boil, boiled 60.0 m
    0.5 oz Saaz (5.0%) - added during boil, boiled 30 m
    0.25 oz Cascade (5.5%) - added during boil, boiled 1 m
    1.0 ea WYeast 2565 Kolsch
3.0 tsp Vanilla (whole bean) - added during boil, boiled 10.0 m

    Notes
4 pounds canned corn (not included in calculations)

Cook unsalted can corn for 20 min.
    then puree add to wort.
this should be lagered for 2 weeks in secondary, one of favorites. sweet tasting beer

    looked great and smelled super.
OG was 1.056 just a touch high. this should help with rating and bring the alcohol up where it should be.
Its hard for the calculator do can corn. 2-2-08 am 12 hours after pitching we have great action bubbling about every second.

Move primary to colder room (84 hrs in)temp is about 53 degrees. airlock bubbling about 1 every 10 seconds or so. will transfer to secondary at approx 108 hrs. lager then at room temp of 40 degrees for 2 weeks.

taste great, fg 1.010 , color is closer to 5/6, overall can't wait. lager for 2 weeks temp 40 degrees, a most if used kolsch yeast.

I did add .5 Lb vienna on this batch, it seems to given it more body, but both are great tasting.

Entered in March beer contest took third.

i can't even begin to imagine what creamed corn would taste like in the finished beer. Are there other people around here brewing with creamed corn? I've heard of using corn in the mash, and i use corn sugar all the time, but this is just wild to me.

    very cool.

i've used creamed corn once. it doesn't lend any different taste than flaked corn does. the problem with it is that the cans have a large % of water. i much prefer to use corn meal with a cereal mash.

I had a beer like that, it was a jacked up pale ale, big mouthfeel despite an FG of 1.008, cloudy as all get out, and it had a meringue like head that floated like an iceberg till the beer was done, had to rinse the foam dollop out of the glass before pouring another one
